President/ Executive Director
Sherline Chery is a nurse practitioner and founder of the non-profit organization Sante Fanm ak Lafanmi. A Haitian native, she emigrated to the United States in 1989 at the age of seven. She graduated in 2003 from Regis College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a concentration in Management. As an undergraduate she studied in London to aquaint herself with a different culture and to become familiar with international business and trade laws. She obtained her Masters in Nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health with a specialization in Adult and Women’s Health. Sherline has always been passionate about providing care in underserved communities. Upon graduation, she started her nursing career at Upham’s Corner Health Center in Boston as a community nurse and at Boston Medical Center as a medical surgical registered nurse transitioning to the maternity/labor and delivery unit. Sherline currently works as nurse practitioner at Boston Community Medical Group providing primary care to patients with disabilities-- another population that is underserved and not recognized in the health care system.
Sherline resides in Boston, MA with her family. She volunteers with numerous organizations providing educational seminars in Boston, Florida, and Haiti. She enjoys traveling, water sports, and loves to educate.
Vice President
Nicole Catatao graduated from Regis College in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and in 2007 obtained a Masters in Nursing from Regis with a specialty as a family nurse practitioner. She went on to work at Children’s Hospital in the Neurosurgery Unit and currently works at Beth Israel Hospital as a nurse practitioner in the Neurosurgery Unit.
Nicole resides in Somerville, MA with her family and enjoys reading, volunteering, and traveling.
Treasurer
Edelyne Thomas is a native of Haiti who came to the United States in 1991 at the age of nine. Edelyne graduated from Andrews University in 2004 with Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Edelyne studied in Argentina for one year in order to immerse herself in a different culture and become familiar with international law. After graduation, she was hired by State Street Corporation working for the strategic sourcing department, then did an internal transfer and worked for IT contracts. In 2008, she joined John Wiley and Sons as a financial analyst and within one year was promoted to commercial analyst. Currently, Edelyne is working at Vertex Pharmaceutical as a sourcing specialist analyst.
Edelyne resides in Medford with her husband. She enjoys reading, movies, and volunteering at her local church.
